Support for Management and Teachers

Peer Support for quality management at 5 organisations

We will work together to identify your quality improvement requirements and support you with a £3,000 grant to realise this improvement. We will not be descriptive on what you need, but from our own experience and our conversations with you our Action Research Projects are likely to support development in areas such as self assessment, use of data and quality of teaching and learning.

You could use your grant to bring in expertise, or provide staff cover, or invest in capital equipment*

If you are involved in Peer Support you will need to invest time into scoping and delivering an Action Research Project (ARP) to help meet your organisation’s quality improvement targets.

We will ask you to attend a meeting with the 5 Peer Support Partners to discuss your aims for the ARP, and afterwards to discuss its impact. From these meetings we will draw conclusions on the most effective ways to bring change and improvement in independent WBL/ACL providers and share this learning with the sector.

Learning Coaching training for tutors at 10 organisations

Learning Coaching is the key to releasing the potential of your teaching staff through peer support and sharing of best practice. Benefits of the two day training session include:

• Gain confidence for improved teaching delivery
• Develop strategies and discover new resources to better meet your learners’ needs
• Network across subjects and sectors and other training providers
• Gain accreditation as a Learning Coach (optional)
• Recognised by Ofsted as being a valuable contribution to an organisation
• Recognised by the Institute for Learning as a valuable asset for CPD

Learning Coaching training will be delivered by Jon Thedham, a vastly experienced coach who has trained staff at colleges and providers across the UK.

and the SCL website:

Teachers of any subject are welcome on the training and we will be able to pay teacher cover costs up to £25 p/hr.

The 5 organisations involved in peer support can also place their tutors on Learning Coaching training.

We expect that most organisations will place 1 – 2 tutors on Learning Coaching training, though this could increase depending
on delivery capacity. We will expect managers to enable your selected tutors to attend both days of the Learning Coaching training.
