ELATT shortlisted for the Lord Mayor's Dragon Award

ELATT shortlisted for the Lord Mayor's Dragon Award

ELATT was thrilled to be shortlisted for the Lord Mayor's Dragon Award Community Partnership Award for its partnership with leading tech firm Opus 2 International.

Following an introduction by volunteer brokerage, City Action, ELATT partnered with Opus 2 International to equip Londoners with the relevant digital skills to meet business demand and fill roles in the digital economy. As a specialist technology company, Opus 2 International, have worked with ELATT to update their curriculum, and provide industry briefings, employment seminars, mentoring and work placements. Over the past three years Opus 2 International staff have worked with 100 ELATT students.  26% of students from the Opus 2-led workshops, seminar and mentoring programme progressed into employment. 

From the work placement programme, 40% of students were offered full-time, paid employment with Opus 2. 

Opus 2 is now working with ELATT to provide apprenticeship opportunities for vulnerable young people, and have already taken on their first apprentice.

Congratulations to our long-term charitable partner the Bromley By Bow Centre for winning the award for their outstanding partnership with Investec.

ELATT are proud to celebrate Living Wage Week 2016

Having become a Living Wage employer in October 2013 and being one of a pioneering group of nearly 3000 employers paying the real Living Wage (and in the first 500 in the UK), we are pleased to announce that we will be increasing our hourly rate of pay in line with the Living Wage Foundation’s newly recommended rate as of the 1st May 2017. The real Living Wage is independently calculated based on what employees and their families need to get by. The new rates as announced by the Living Wage Foundation on Monday 31st October will apply to all our staff over 18 and for all staff in London the rate will be £9.75.

Hackney charity wins new funding to support marginalised young people into work and study

Starting this month, 15 unemployed young people will see their life and work chances improved thanks to a new coaching initiative funded by a grant from Investec’s Donations Committee. The young people, who will also benefit from Hackney-based charitable provider ELATT’s Connected Youth re-engagement programme, will be paired with a development coach who will support them on a one-to-one basis from the first day of study right through to their graduation.

ELATT Connected Learning beat off stiff competition from some of the biggest and best national FE Colleges and training providers to win three major awards at the prestigious TES FE Awards, held at the Grosvenor Hotel in Park Lane, London on Friday 22nd April and hosted by comedian Shappi Khorsandi.

ELATT renews Gold with 'Investors in People'

Our staff and trustees were delighted to renew our Investors in People accreditation at Gold level, the highest level achievable within the framework. Although 16% of all UK-based organisations are accredited through the IiP programme, only fewer than 5% of IiP accredited organisations received Gold - a fantastic tribute to the leadership, commitment and values that run throughout our organisation's students, volunteers, staff and trustees.

Living Wage Employer

As a charity with a single aim of helping people obtain new skills and opportunities to gain employment, ELATT believes that once people gain employment, they should be able to afford to have a decent standard of living. This is why ELATT has opted to be an accredited London Living Wage Employer.

The living wage is an informal benchmark, a salary that is set independently by accredited employers. This wage is not an enforceable minimum level of pay, like the national minimum wage, but it accounts for the minimum pay rate that enables employees to afford to meet their basic needs and lead a dignified life.

A lot has been done to reduce our energy usage, educating students and staff on their first arrival on site with an induction pack on good practices with regard to IT, for example turning off monitors and computers after use. Careful placement of Energy Wise posters around the centre acts as a visual reminder and reinforces our policies to both students and staff alike.

ELATT ranked 19th in the UK Best Places awards!

A Hackney education charity, East London Advanced Technology Training (ELATT), has been recognised as one of the best small businesses to work for in the UK. ELATT not only secured a place in the prestigious Great Place to Work list, but was also the highest ranked charity, amongst a host of private companies. The list, which was unveiled in a glittering ceremony, appeared in The Guardian this week and will be included in The Sunday Telegraph this weekend.

ELATT is Outstanding!

ELATT is an outstanding training provider

Ofsted inspectors have graded ELATT 'Outstanding' following a rigorous inspection in January 2015. Staff were praised for outstanding leadership, the delivery of innovative training and personal development programmes and for being dedicated to fulfilling the educational needs of unemployed and disadvantaged people.

ELATT achieved outstanding grades across all the main criteria, which included outcomes for learners, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and the effectiveness of leadership and management.
