Caqligii wanaagsan - Good sense

Gorayadu ilmaheed

Aroori bay dhigtaayoo

Aboodigu ku layaa,

Shinbirtuna aroosay

Ilaaxidhoo ammaana bay

Ubadkeeda seexisaa.

The ostrich puts her young in the open

Where the hawk can kill them.

The small birds marry and build a nest for their young

So they can be safe.

Kala awran labaduye

Edebtiyo aqoontiyo

Asluubtay isku dhaafeen

Caqligii wanagsani

Itaal in uu ka roon yahay

bal eegoo u fiirsada.

Different in size and in manner

They are each other opposite in wisdom and good sense

See how good sense is superior to strength

And think on it.

Ilka weynoo maroodigu

Araduu mirtaa buu

Cadawgu ku ugaadhaa,

Aboorkuna duddumadaan

Ilka weynoo maroodigu

Aragnay buu dhistaayoo

Naftiisa ku ilaashaa.

Do you know the dik-dik?

She digs a hole in the sand to cover her waste

But the lion doesn't cover his waste

He leaves it on the street.

Kala awran labaduye

Edebtiyo aqoontiyo

Asluubtay isku dhaafeen .

Caqligii wanaagsani

itaal in uu ka roonyahay

bal eegoo u fiirsada.

Different in size and in manner

They are each other opposite in wisdom and good sense

See how good sense is superior to strength

And think on it.
